Dental implant surgery is a common procedure that hardly fails considering the current advancement in technology and the nature of implant materials.

The failure rate of this kind of dental surgery may be low, but there are still instances wherein dental implant surgery fails such as when the body naturally rejects the implant considering that it is a foreign substance or when a metal allergy occurs.

Poor post-operative care can also result in late implant rejection or when the bone is already healing. Late implant rejection can also happen if you have dental implants and you fail to observe proper dental hygiene habits.

Symptoms of Dental Implant Rejection

Dental implant rejection may be rare, but it is still possible, which is why you need to be aware of the various symptoms of rejection or dental implant failure, so you can see us immediately.

After the dental implant surgery, you need to be cautious of several signs such as sharp pain that persists for several weeks, redness and swelling of gums, heavy and prolonged bleeding of the area where the teeth were implanted, and wobbly dental implants. Other symptoms of rejection also include fever, chills, and unpleasant odor coming from the mouth.

How to Prevent Dental Implant Rejection

There are many things that you can do to help prevent dental implant failure. For one, you should stop smoking and drinking alcohol.

You should also refrain from overheating or overcooling your body, which is why you should avoid visiting saunas, swimming pools, and other facilities that greatly impact your body temperature, especially during the first few months after the surgical procedure.

Make sure to observe proper post-operative care and dental hygiene habits and take care of your overall health as well. Most importantly, you should keep your regular appointment with us, so we can readily address potential problems and issues.
