When you experience a dental emergency, you may find that it is a stressful and even slightly overwhelming experience.

In the face of such a crisis, it can be easy to forget what to do - or to do the wrong thing. Here are some things that you need to remember if you have a dental emergency in order to keep from making the situation worse.

Do Not Ignore It
Sometimes people are tempted to ignore a dental emergency, or to try to downplay it and make it seem less serious than it really is. However, doing this can lead to bigger problems down the road. For one thing, it is highly likely that your inaction could eventually end up costing you a tooth that might otherwise have been saved.

For another, in terms of financial and emotional costs, waiting to seek help can have a higher overall cost than getting the help you need right away.

Do Not Panic
At the same time, although it is important to seek out help as soon as you can, you need to remember that you should not panic. Losing your composure and allowing your emotions to drive your actions can end up causing you to make foolish decisions.

What's more, due to the elevated blood pressure that accompanies panic, you may actually experience more bleeding and trauma than you would have if you had kept your wits about you.

It is important to keep reminding yourself that a dental emergency is not a life-threatening event. Although it may look quite gruesome, and although there may be a fair amount of bleeding, remind yourself that you we'll make it through this.

We are here to help you with your dental emergencies. If you have any questions-or if you need immediate assistance-please do not hesitate to call.
