Maintaining good oral hygiene is very important. We don't tell you to follow the directions every time you go in because we have to. We tell you because they care about your overall health. Everyone loves having a nice smile.

Smiles are contagious and make you feel good in many different ways. Making sure you keep doing the right thing may not be all you need. That's why it's important to keep up on regular cleanings in our office.

Somethings can go undetected when you are just looking in the mirror. Let's go over warning signs and how to find out if something else may be going on.

How to Detect a Cavity Between Teeth

If you are a person that brushes twice a day and flosses at least once and day, and you still have a sensitivity to cold, you might want to check in with us. You may have a tender area that when chewing it causes discomfort. You may not be able to see where you are having the pain. We may need to do an x-ray to discover cavities between teeth.

Cavities between teeth are caused from food particles that get stuck between where bacteria grows. The bacteria breaks down the tooth enamel and destroys it, leaving a cavity.

Filling a cavity as soon as possible is important, because cavities between teeth like to spread out quickly. Where you may have needed one filling may turn into two. If left long enough, you may need a crown or root canal to save what they can of your teeth. Filling a cavity between teeth is done the same way as a surface area cavity.

The important thing to remember is that cavities between teeth can go undetected. If you have bacteria and plaque built up on or in between your teeth, you may not realize what kind of things are happening. To schedule a cleaning or exam, call us today. We can help!
